CONDITIONS OF SALE

WHAT IS A PRINT: A print is ink transferred to paper by a press from an engraving or drawing on another medium, usually wood, metal or stone. The paper used for early prints is not wood pulp paper like your newspaper. It usually has a very high cotton fiber content, which is what has preserved it all these years.

PRINT CONDITION: Our inventory consists of old and mostly one of a kind prints. While we try to offer them in the best condition possible, including a professional cleaning before matting, they are sold AS IS, with all of the defects that are inherent in old paper. If any defect will adversely effect the value of a print, it will be noted in the description of that print, and we will price the print accordingly. Specifically, old prints tend to have age spots. We will NOT accept the return of prints merely because of the existence of these spots.

RETURNS: Returns will be accepted under the following conditions: 1) You must contact us first to expect your return shipment. 2) We will accept the shipment only within fourteen (14) days of the date that we shipped the prints. 3) Each print must be in the condition that you received it, with the labeling and shrink-wrap intact. The prints are in perfect condition when we wrap them to preserve that condition and the cleanliness of the matting materials. 4) Upon receipt of your return in satisfactory condition, we will cheerfully refund your money by the method in which you paid us.

CHECKS: Allow ten (10) business days from the day you send your check before we will ship prints, so that we may clear it through your bank. All payments are to be in U.S. Dollars, the cost of any bank conversion of funds is an extra charge.

CREDIT CARDS: We respect your privacy and the need for security of your credit card information. We will obtain bank authorization of all credit cards before shipment and cards will not be charged until the day we ship. We do NOT divulge any information to anyone about our valued clients, under any circumstances.

SHIPPING: We ship as a service to you. All of our shipments are sent insured for your protection. Please remember that when we ship prints, they are your prints that we are shipping. We do our best to protect them in their travels. We do charge THE ACTUAL COST for packing, shipping, and insurance, depending on the method of shipping that you select, and the speed with which you wish to receive them. The preferred methods of shipment are Priority Mail from the USPS and by UPS. We will at your direction, ship by whatever means that you specify. Please note that to protect the glass on framed prints, it requires extra packing materials and shipping costs.

QUESTIONS: Do NOT hesitate to ask questions about anything at all that you want clarified or expanded on. We try to provide as much information about each print as possible, and this includes, whenever possible, a copy of the title page from the volume that was the source of that print, and any descriptive material provided by the publishers about that print. We do extensive research just to provide this information, and in rare instances, can and will provide information from scholarly works about unusual prints. The top line of each print label specifies the method by which the ink was put on the paper. Due to space limitations, this is a generalization of the method. We will be happy to expand on this information, should you request it. The date on the bottom line of the label is intended to specify the year that the paper passed over a printing press.
